About Me

Well hello there! Thanks for dropping by to my cosy corner of the web. Do pull up a stool - feel free to pop that pile of books on the side - and help yourself to a hot, steaming cup of whatever makes you happy.

My name’s Dansi - a rather odd nickname inherited from a long-lost relative many centuries ago, that I’m reliably told went off to France to fight a duel and never returned (guessing it didn’t go so well for him…).

I’m a debut children’s author, as well as mother (and reader) to my little daughter Beatrix. I was drawn to start writing again after volunteering, for the past year and a half, as ‘Chief Storyteller’ at my local library whilst on Mat Leave. Given that reading to children is half saying the words on the page and half enthusiastic amateur dramatics, I aim to create stories that are just as enjoyable to read aloud as they are to listen to.

Before writing, I worked as a Policy Advisor in the Civil Service and studied History at Oxford - both of which gave an excellent grounding in eccentric characters and unusual worlds. When I’m not scribbling away, you can find me either warbling and tinkling the ivories at a local open mic night or donning my most fetching welligogs and yomping about the South Downs.

Thanks again for stopping by - I’m excited to share my stories and connect with fellow readers and writers! Don’t worry about washing up that cup and do take a slice of cake for the trip back on your way out!
